Auburn football makes Top 8 for 4-star FL wide receiver

The Auburn football team is about to start their second week of 2023 spring practices, the first set under new head coach Hugh Freeze. But in the midst of preparing for the upcoming season, there is still plenty of work to be done on the recruiting trail.

Freeze and wide receivers’ coach Marcus Davis got a bit of good news this weekend when 4-star wide receiver Chance Robinson put the Tigers on his list of eight recruitment finalists on Twitter. Robinson, who plays high school ball for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is close with current Auburn WR Camden Brown as the pair were high school teammates before Brown went to college.

Robinson is ranked as the #53 overall prospect and the #6 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2024. He is the #14 recruit out of the Sunshine State and included Ole Miss, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, and Tennessee in his Top 8 alongside Auburn football.

Though he was supposed to make the trip to campus for the Tigers’ Junior Day earlier this year, he was unable to make it and plans to visit for a spring practice instead. Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente reports that Robinson had an offer from the previous staff, but was re-offered by Freeze and company in January:

"“It’s just really interesting and nice knowing Auburn is a national championship program and it was a good moment for me,” Robinson said after the offer. “That’s big to me. That definitely puts a big thought in my mind, especially coming from a receiving offense. You know he’s fast-paced, throws the ball, that also puts a good thought in my mind.”"

It’s still early days in terms of 2024 recruitment, but the Tigers look to be in a good spot to land 4-star wide receiver Chance Robinson.
