Auburn football legend Cam Newton announced on Twitter that he’d be present at Auburn’s pro day on March 21 — indicating that the former Heisman winner and 2015 NFL MVP is making a legitimate comeback attempt after sitting out the 2022 season.
Newton used his typical cryptic font in announcing his pro day appearance. The 33-year-old has said he uses such font so that people pay attention to what he was saying.
Every Auburn football fan should be paying close to attention to what happens next as the Plains icon makes what could be his final comeback attempt of what has been a storied football career at both the college and pro levels.
Carolina Panthers may pass on Bryce Young for QB who resembles Auburn football legend Cam Newton
Newton was undoubtedly the greatest quarterback to ever wear the orange and blue, but Alabama’s QB G.O.A.T., Bryce Young, is a current NFL prospect hoping to hear his name called on the first day of the NFL draft.
Young, at five-foot-10 and under 200 pounds, doesn’t have the typical profile of a quarterback Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich typically looks for in a signal-caller. The Panthers own the No. 1 pick in the draft after trading up with the Chicago Bears.
Carolina linebacking great Luke Kuechly recently commented on “The Morning Shift” regarding who he’d take with the No. 1 pick, and the seven-time Pro Bowler chose a quarterback who has been getting wild comparisons to Newton, Florida’s Anthony Richardson:
"“Oh my gosh, I’m such a partial [Cam Newton] guy. So when I look at Richardson, he just makes me so excited. Because I played with Cam and saw how much fun we had with him and what he can do.”"
Do we surmise that the Panthers would take Newton coming out of college again at the No. 1 pick if Young was also available? Sure, why not.
