The Auburn football program has gotten multiple big recruiting successes under new head coach Hugh Freeze. From badly needed offensive linemen to the 5-star flip of Keldric Faulk to the surprise commitment of 2024 QB Walker White, the Tigers are on a roll.
Will that success continue today? In-state running back J’Marion Burnette announced on his Twitter that he will pledge to a college program at 11:30 a.m. Burnette is a 4-star prospect out of Andalusia, AL, and is ranked as the #10 recruit out of the state in addition to being the #153 overall prospect and the #10 running back in the recruiting class of 2024.
The RB has taken multiple trips to the Plains—more than any other school—but was most recently on campus for the Tigers’ Junior Day at the end of January. The only school that has received nearly as many visits is Alabama. According to his recruiting profile on 247 Sports, he is just coming off an unofficial visit to Florida State, and now his mind seems to be made up.
Auburn football has been a strong leader in Burnette’s recruitment for awhile, and he has built a solid relationship with Running Backs and Associate Head Coach Cadillac Williams after being made a clear priority in the 2024 class. He named his top 10 programs back in November, including Penn State, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, and Oregon alongside Auburn.
The Tigers have a 96% chance to land the running back according to On3, and Auburn has landed two Crystal Ball Predictions from staff writers at 247 Sports to land Burnette.
Auburn football currently has three commits in their recruiting class of 2024: 4-star cornerbacks Jayden Lewis and A’Mon Lane, and 4-star quarterback Walker White. We will find out at 11:30 a.m. if Burnette will be the fourth future Tiger.
