While spring practice is fully underway, the Auburn football coaching staff is still keeping things moving in the world of recruiting. Though they are recruiting in the Tigers’ normal footprint around the southeast, members of the coaching staff from Liberty mean that relationships also exist outside the footprint.

Today, the Auburn football program became the latest school to offer a scholarship to 3-star linebacker Chris Cole. Out of Salem, VA, Chris Cole is ranked as the #67 linebacker in the class of 2024 and the #21 recruit out of the state of Virginia.

Though his 247 Sports ranking does not jump off the page at you, make no mistake—this linebacker’s recruitment is definitely on the rise. He has 12 offers so far, though that number is sure to grow in the coming months. Some of the schools pursuing Cole include Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Miami, Texas A&M, and Maryland.

Cole has received offers from multiple in-state schools (Virginia Tech, Virginia, and West Virginia) and has visited Virginia Tech five times already while he’s visited the other two twice. He has also been to Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee, Wake Forest, and North Carolina.

Though Virginia Tech seems to be the leader in the linebacker’s recruitment, his uncle played for Miami and he has a scholarship offer from Mario Cristobal, as well. According to On3, Cole’s uncle Rohan Marley was a “powerhouse for the Hurricanes in the early 1990’s.”

Though in-state Virginia Tech is in the lead now, it’s clear that more big schools around the country are noticing Chris Cole, and his recruitment could get very interesting ahead of his commitment.
