When it comes to recruiting priorities in the class of 2024, there are several in-state targets that are high on the list for the Auburn football program, and one of those priorities is 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman.
From Phenix City, AL, Coleman lives just down the road from the Plains and has been to visit several times in the past few weeks, and has been building a strong bond with the Tigers’ coaching staff. After arriving on campus to meet with the coaching staff on March 23, the wide receiver returned less than a week later to watch one of the team’s spring practice sessions.
Then, despite the cold, rainy weather this Saturday, Coleman turned up at Jordan-Hare Stadium to watch the A-Day game, where he got to check out the progression of the offense and get a feel for what it would be like were he a player.
Auburn football has recently turned up the heat on Coleman’s recruitment, with an 87.9 percent chance to earn his commitment according to his On3 recruiting profile. And one of the major reasons that the Tigers are faring so well is due to the effort put in by the coaching staff, and especially head coach Hugh Freeze, to remain in contact with the wide receiver, per Auburn Rivals:
"“No head coach has been talking to me like that,” Coleman said. “They’ve been talking to me, but not like the way Coach Freeze has been communicating with me. That proves he wants me.”"
Coleman is ranked as the #21 overall prospect and the #7 wide receiver in the recruiting class of 2024 and the #4 player out of Alabama. While Auburn certainly seems to be leading his recruitment at the moment, he recently visited Clemson, which is another program high on his list. Other interested teams include Kentucky, Alabama, and LSU.
