It’s commitment day for one of Auburn football’s priority targets in the recruiting class of 2024. Martavious Collins was committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide back in January, but after a visit to the Tigers’ campus later that month, he announced he would be re-opening his recruitment.
Ranked as the #29 ATH in his recruiting class and the #35 prospect out of the Peach State, Collins has been considered a heavy Auburn lean since walking back his pledge to Alabama. Though he is classified as an ATH and is being recruited in some places as a defensive back, Collins is wanted on the Plains as a tight end.
He visited plenty of schools throughout 2021-22, but things slowed down following his January visit to the Plains. He took an unofficial visit earlier this month to Florida State, but followed it up by returning to Auburn for the Tigers’ spring A-Day game.
Auburn football has been making a big push for Collins in the past few months, with tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua remaining in frequent contact as well as head coach Hugh Freeze. Not only is he getting attention from the coaches, but 2024 QB commit Walker White has been recruiting him to the Plains, as well:
According to Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover, Collins admitted outright that the Tigers were at the top of his list following A-Day, and he previously said that his plan was to announce his commitment closer to the end of his senior season. The new date could be indicative that Auburn football is about to get some good news.
Should Martavious Collins commit, he would be the fifth player to join the Tigers’ 2024 roster, joining QB Walker White, RB J’Marion Burnette, and CB’s A’Mon Lane and Jayden Lewis.
