Auburn football is reportedly eyeing several offensive line additions via the transfer portal during the April cycle according to 247Sports’ Christian Clemente — who relayed AU’s need for depth to replace incoming graduate transfers Avery Jones (East Carolina) and Gunner Britton (Western Kentucky).

“Even after landing three offensive line transfers in the first portal window in former Tulsa offensive tackle Dillon Wade, former Western Kentucky offensive tackle Gunner Britton and former East Carolina center Avery Jones, Auburn has been in pursuit of one or two more offensive linemen in this portal window,” Clemente wrote. “With Jones and Britton on their final year of eligibility, Auburn is in need of more depth and layering the depth chart for the future.”

In response to the looming offensive line problem, the Tigers have offered former Wyoming guard Emmanuel Pregnon and former Tulsa offensive lineman Jaden Muskrat.

Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze hints at additions to the offensive line, secondary, and QB room

Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze forecasted his coaching staff’s pursuit of offensive linemen in the transfer portal, but the first-year head man also mentioned several other positions as ones with impending portal additions.

“We’ll take a few more O-linemen,” Freeze said (h/t AL.com). “We’ll take another safety, another corner, a rush guy. We’ll take a quarterback, possibly, if it’s the right now. I mean, we’re open. So, I’m curious to see kind of who all goes in.”

However, Freeze did warn that his coaching staff isn’t privy to the portal cycle post-spring practice.

“None of us have dealt with this spring portal,” Freeze prefaced before saying, “This will be our first experience with it. It can affect you both ways: I think you can lose some that you may not want to lose, and obviously you hope that there’s some out there that you can track to help create more depth and experience on our team.”
