Cam Coleman on relationship with Auburn football WR coach Marcus Davis
One of the top priority recruits for the Auburn football program in the 2024 cycle is 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman. From Phenix City, just a few minutes down the road from the Plains, Coleman would have a major impact on the team in terms of both leadership and skill.
Over the past few months, many from the Auburn camp have been working hard to maintain strong relationships with the wide receiver, including head coach Hugh Freeze and class of 2024 quarterback commit Walker White. Coleman was listed by name during White’s commitment speech as someone he wanted to join him on the Plains, and Coleman previously said that White has been texting him frequently.
Coleman was also on the Plains for the spring A-Day game, and confirmed that Freeze has been talking to him more than any other head coach, and is pushing hard for Coleman to end up as an Auburn Tiger.
Earlier this week, the Auburn Undercover staff went to the first day of Coleman’s high school spring practice and spoke with him about the importance of his relationship with Auburn football wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, who made Coleman a priority from Day 1 and made sure that the WR was the first 2024 recruit to receive an offer from the Tigers.
"“Oh it’s very important,” said Coleman. “I was the first one he offered, I’m the first person he visited leaving Auburn… I see I’m a big factor for him.”"
Coleman told the Auburn Undercover staff that he and Davis have the closest relationship out of all the coaches that are recruiting him, and they chop it up almost every day. Coleman expected to get a text from Davis asking him about his first day of spring practice, too.
While the 5-star certainly has a while before he has to make any commitment decisions, the Tigers are doing everything they can to maintain a good relationship with Cam Coleman and convincing him that home is on the Plains.
