According to On3’s Justin Hokanson, Bruce Pearl and the rest of the Auburn basketball coaching staff are “doing everything they can” to land the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, Flory Bidunga.
According to 247Sports’ Travis Branham, Auburn basketball is in a “heavyweight recruiting battle” that is set to heat up this spring.
“Flory Bidunga is one of the top players in the 2024 class and is in the midst of a heavyweight recruiting battle that is heating up this spring,” Branham wrote. “The 6-foot-9, 215-pound center ranks as the No. 3 overall player in the class and has taken visits to Indiana, Auburn, Florida and has a fourth visit in the works.”
Auburn basketball doesn’t seem to have an edge in Flory Bidunga recruitment based on comments
Perhaps it’s best not to look too much into the comments Bidunga provided considering the similarities in the compliments he gave the three schools he has already visited. Still, it’s hard not to view his ho-hum description of his Auburn visit.
“I have been to Auburn already,” Bidunga said. “That was pretty good. I met the coaching staff and it was fun.”
Bidunga seemed a bit more enthralled by Florida’s weather and the energy of its coaching staff.
“Pretty good weather so that was good,” Bidunga said of UF. “The coaches are good and nice, their energy is good so it was wonderful.”
That Bidunga had particularly strong praise for Kentucky head coach John Calipari has to strike fear in the hearts of Tiger fans who have seen the Wildcats become a feeder system for NBA stars.
“Calipari has been texting me so that’s very exciting for a coach to be showing interest in you,” Bidunga said. “That was pretty good. He came with coach Orlando, we talked. It is coming soon, we are working on a day probably in June.”
