Founder and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving Jimmy Rane, the “YellaFella” and the most infamous Auburn football booster, is not always a popular figure due to his meddling in program affairs — but there’s no denying he loves AU and invests much of his resources to produce a winning product on the field.

That’s why when you hear that Rane likes new Tigers HC Hugh Freeze, you can’t help but be thrilled to hear that the ever-elusive “alignment” that was missing during the Bryan Harsin era is now seemingly present.

“We’ve always had the Auburn football coach here going back to Pat Dye,” Rane prefaced before saying, “We’ve had every Auburn coach except for the last one. The previous coach came and played golf, but he didn’t come to the banquet, so we’re glad to have Hugh (Freeze) here.”

Jimmy Rane provides more proof Bryan Harsin was toxic to the Auburn football program

Everyone plugged into college football the past two seasons saw that Harsin was not doing the work off the field to put a winning product on it, but the depths to which he was not handling business was not previously known.

Rane, who was initially deemed as counterproductive to the last regime, revealed just how little Harsin cared for his job and respected the people paying him millions of dollars to coach one of the country’s most passionate fanbases.

Not showing up on the recruiting trail is unforgivable enough. To think Harsin wouldn’t take free food in order to show face in front of Auburn’s boosters is a slap in the face and a chomp on the hand that was feeding him.

Harsin was evidently toxic to the program’s ability to compete, but on the bright side, many of the ills from the Boise native’s tenure are being undone by Freeze.

Alignment procured.
