The Auburn football program is gearing up for a busy summer full of official visits from prospects all over the country. With the NCAA transfer portal windows and the 2023 signing period in the rear view mirror, the coaching staff is fully focused on the classes of 2024 and 2025.
Another offensive lineman in the class of 2024 has locked in an official visit with the Tigers. 4-star Caleb Holmes will make the trip to the Plains for the weekend of June 9. According to his On3 Sports recruiting profile, this is the only official visit Holmes has scheduled so far though 247 Sports indicates he has also set an OV to Pitt for June 2.
He has unofficially visited LSU, Florida State, and Eastern Michigan and plans to visit more programs. Tennessee is another school showing interest in the OL, but at the moment it seems as though Auburn football is in the lead.
Holmes is ranked as the #183 overall prospect and the #7 IOL in the recruiting class of 2024. From Fairburn, GA, Holmes is the #25 recruit out of the Peach State.
Cole Pinkston of Auburn Live reports that Holmes has a high interest in Auburn due to its proximity to his home town and that the offensive lineman is impressively powerful:
"Holmes is a problem when going one-on-one against a single defensive lineman. He is on the interior, so he often works combo blocks, but when he gets singled up, he wins those battles almost every time. He usually finishes blocks in a nasty way as well."
Other official visitors that the Tigers have locked in include 4-star defensive lineman LJ McCray, 5-star offensive tackle Jameson Riggs, 4-star offensive lineman Preston Taumua, 4-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun, 4-star safety Kensley Faustin, and more. Locking in a solid recruiting class of 2024 will be crucial to Hugh Freeze’s success on the Plains.
