Rising interest in Auburn football for Mississippi lineman
The Auburn football coaching staff is working hard on recruitment this summer, hosting a multitude of highly-ranked athletes from across the country on campus for visits. The visitor list continues to grow, and after an experience on campus this week the Tigers will likely add another.
3-star William Echoles made his way to the Plains earlier this week for the Elite Camp, and was very impressed with the Tigers. So impressed that he is already planning a return trip for an official visit where he wants to get to know the staff even better.
Echoles is classified as an offensive lineman, and spent his time at the Elite Camp on the offensive side, but Auburn Rivals reports that defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett has also liked what he has seen from the prospect, and would be interested in seeing him work on the defensive side. As far as Echoles is concerned, he’s happy to play wherever the Tigers need him:
"“They started recruiting me as an O-lineman, Coach (Jake) Thornton did,” Echoles said. “Then Coach (Jeremy) Garrett saw my defensive highlights and started recruiting me as both. I ain’t got no preference, wherever they need me at, I’ll be happy playing either one of them.”"
Rivals also reports that Echoles has already set up several official visits. He plans to go to Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State in addition to his Plains visit this weekend. Though the Mississippi native appears to have a high level of interest in the schools in his home state, Auburn football could be a dark horse to win his commitment.
Echoles is ranked as the #48 IOL and the #17 recruit out of the state of Mississippi, and has 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions to ultimately land at both Ole Miss and Mississippi State. However, his multiple trips to the Plains could prove that Echoles belongs in orange and blue.
