Central defensive back puts Auburn football in Top 6
The Auburn football coaching staff under Hugh Freeze is working hard to establish a pipeline to the Plains from Central High School in Phenix City. The biggest push is for 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, one of the first prospects to earn an offer from the Tigers under the new coaching staff, but it’s not stopping there.
The Tigers are also going after one of his teammates, 3-star defensive back Rydarrius “Red” Morgan, who is ranked as the #558 overall prospect and the #56 safety in the recruiting class of 2024. He is the #27 recruit out of the state of Alabama.
Earlier this week, Morgan announced that he had narrowed his recruitment down to just six schools via Twitter, leaving Auburn football to battle with rival Alabama, Mississippi State, Miami, Cincinnati, and Florida State.
Although the DB had to postpone his official visit to the Plains that was set for June 12, he has visited several other times this spring and was also on campus for a 7-on-7 tournament with his team. He already officially visited Florida State on June 2 and Cincinnati on June 9, and will head to Miami this weekend.
The Auburn football coaching staff has already secured commitments from several defensive backs for the recruiting class of 2024, including A’Mon Lane, Jayden Lewis, and Kensley Faustin, who just committed last week. Despite the number of commits, it’s clear that Morgan is a priority target for secondary coach Wesley McGriff, and he would be a huge building block in the Central-to-Auburn pipeline the Tigers are working to build.
Morgan, who has a great relationship with both McGriff and fellow secondary coach Zac Etheridge, plans to make his final decision about where he will play college ball at the beginning of his senior season this fall.
