Bryan Harsin-era Auburn football quarterback commit Adrian Posse, who de-committed from the Tigers on January 14 following the hiring of Hugh Freeze, joined Trent Dilfer’s UAB Blazers on June 27, announcing his decision via Twitter.

Posse, who referred to UAB as “home” in his social media post, had been offered by the Blazers back on June 18. The Northwestern (Miami, FL) product had interest from Power Five pillar programs like Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, and LSU prior to committing to AU on July 30, 2022.

The addition comes in the wake of Dilfer’s impassioned threat to coaches not to try and tamper with his players, one that saw a proud proclamation that he wanted to be the head coach at UAB and live in Birmingham.

“I dare you to jump into my roster,” Dilfer said to P5 coaches (h/t CBS Sports). “I told the American (Athletic Conference) coaches the same thing. I said, ‘Why don’t you guys have the you-know-whats to stand up and say get out of my roster?’ I said here’s why: ’cause you want their job. I want this job. I don’t want no Power — I want this job. I want to live in Birmingham. I want to live downtown. I want to go see my grandson in Nashville. I don’t want that other job, so I don’t care if you blackball me. I want this job. I want the city of Birmingham to say, ‘No. That’s our city. That’s our coach.’ So, go ahead. I’m not scared of whoever — the Grand Poobah of Poobahs — to blackball me. Like, get out of my roster. These are my guys. I love these guys. Stay the hell out of it.”

Auburn football has Walker White at quarterback in 2024 instead of Adrian Posse

After Posse pulled out of his Plains commitment, Freeze moved quickly to pull Little Rock Christian Academy product Walker White away from Clemson and Ole Miss in a move that built significant momentum for the 2024 Auburn football recruiting class.

White has been passionate about getting prized players to join him at AU, so Posse’s departure has not been a loss for the Tigers as much as it will be a massive gain for Dilfer and the Blazers. The two will invariably be linked moving forward given they are playing their home games roughly 100 miles apart.
