The Auburn football program may have missed out on offensive lineman Kahlil House earlier this week, but predictions show that the Tigers are rising in favor with other prospects, including a 4-star cornerback out of Georgia.

Jalyn Crawford, from Lilburn, GA, is ranked as the #159 overall prospect and the #15 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2024. He is the #21 recruit out of Georgia, and is one of the Tigers’ top priorities out of the Peach State.

The cornerback has made the trip to the Plains quite a few times over the last two years, and took his official visit to campus last month, the weekend of June 9. Following his official visit, Crawford called the trip a “great experience” according to Auburn Live, and got the opportunity to speak with  head coach Hugh Freeze and work on building up that player-coach relationship.

247 Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins thinks Crawford has the potential to be a Power 5 starter, and had high praise for the high schooler:

"An aggressive cover corner that has held his own in Georgia’s highest-classification. Measured 6-foot, 180 pounds in Winter of 2023 and is believed to have an additional inch or two in his arms. Versed in both man and off-man coverage. Also owns valuable two-way snaps having doubled as a wide receiver on Friday nights. Does a nice job of maintaining phase by mirroring with his hips and trying to steer his assignment towards the sidelines. Quick to break on the ball and has proven to be uber competitive at the catch point, having totaled plenty of PBUs and a trio of interceptions as an 11th grader."

Crawford’s top schools include Auburn football, LSU, North Carolina, and Florida. He officially visited LSU the weekend of June 16, Florida the weekend of June 2, and North Carolina on the weekend of June 23.

Currently, the Tigers lead in the cornerback’s recruitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with two expert predictions forecasting Crawford to end up on the Plains. LSU follows closely behind, with Florida in the third spot, right now. However, the 247 Sports Crystal Ball is split 50/50, with one expert predicting Auburn and one predicting LSU.

Though there is no official commitment date set, it is likely that Crawford will make a decision in the near future, sometime this summer, and chances are leaning in favor of the Auburn football program.
