Auburn football has beaten Georgia and Alabama 56 and 37 times, respectively, throughout its storied history. Mississippi State has been put down 62 times by the Tigers, exactly double the number of times the Bulldogs were victorious.
AU has bragging rights over most of the SEC, and in general, most of the country in some form — but six schools out there have been able to get one up on the Tigers without losing to the orange and blue later on.
These are the 6 FBS programs Auburn football has played but never beaten
Minnesota
The Golden Gophers won the lone meeting between Minnesota and Auburn with a deciding touchdown in the fourth quarter of the 2020 Outback Bowl. Little did college football fans know, the world would fundamentally change forever just two and a half months after the New Year’s Day showdown.
Mohamed Ibrahim nearly tripled the rushing output of the entire Tigers running back room, going for 140 yards and a touchdown to AU’s RBs amassing merely 56 yards and a Boobee Whitlow TD. Tanner Morgan also went for 102 more passing yards and an extra touchdown to Bo Nix’s 176-yard, one-TD outing. Minnesota more than doubled the Tigers’ total yardage for the game.
Ultimately, the 2019 Auburn Tigers would be the final successful season Gus Malzahn led the team to, with the SEC-only COVID-19-stricken 2020 season winding up in a 6-4 regular season and a pre-bowl game ouster of the current UCF head coach. It ended with the start of an 0-1 record against the Gophers.
