Auburn football 2024 Schedule: Confirmed opponents
The Auburn football program will turn a new leaf and begin the Hugh Freeze era this fall, but the 2024 season will really kick things off. Texas and Oklahoma will both join the Southeastern Conference, divisions will be eliminated, and things will look pretty different for most teams.
The 2024 season will be hugely important for Freeze as it will be the first year that he has truly brought in a recruiting class of his own, and he will have experienced his second offseason as Auburn football’s head coach.
With the lack of East and West divisions, the Tigers will have a less brutal than usual schedule next year, giving Freeze and the team the opportunity to pull off something big after having gotten their feet under them in year one.
Earlier this summer the SEC unveiled conference opponents for each school, though dates and times have not yet been confirmed. The Auburn football team will face new conference opponent Oklahoma first, andthe rest of the contenders are listed below:
Auburn football Home Opponents:
- Arkansas
- Oklahoma
- Texas A&M
- Vanderbilt
Auburn football Away Opponents:
- Kentucky
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Missouri
It will be only the third time the Tigers face the Sooners, and the first time the Sooners play in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The trip to Missouri will be only the second, the first time taking place in 2017. It will be the first trek to Kentucky since 2015.
As far as non-conference opponents, there are three confirmed. The Tigers will complete their home-and-home series with the Cal Golden Bears, welcoming them to the Plains. Also on the slate are the New Mexico Lobos and the ULM War Hawks. The last time Auburn faced New Mexico was back in 2012, and they previously faced ULM in 2017.
While not all of the changes are welcome (missing out on playing LSU and Ole Miss???) it’s possible that Auburn football will have a heck of a year in 2024.
