Today could be the day that the Auburn football program adds their 17th commit to the recruiting class of 2024. Ranked #14 overall and #7 in the SEC, the Tigers have had a tremendous summer of recruiting that involved flips and 5-star recruits. Will that upward recruiting momentum continue into the fall?
It could continue today with the commitment of 5-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin. The Lake Cormorant, MS, native is ranked as the #30 overall prospect and the #6 defensive lineman in the recruiting class of 2024 and is the #2 recruit out of the state of Mississippi.
Franklin’s final five schools include Ole Miss, Miami, Florida State, Tennessee, and Auburn football. He has visited the Plains multiple times, and most recently made it to campus soon after Big Cat Weekend.
According to On3’s Jeffrey Lee, the July visit made a big impact on Franklin’s recruitment, and fans should be “cautiously optimistic” about landing the 5-star:
"“That visit right before the dead period kicked in that last week of July really, really played a big factor in Kamarion’s recruitment,” said Lee. “Jeremy Garrett, Hugh Freeze both of those guys from the state of Mississippi — they’ve got ties, they’ve got really strong bonds with Kam. And so I think that’s really paying off for Auburn as we get near the decision. I think right now, Auburn is the team to beat. But Josh, we’ve seen things like this happen before and we know things can change late. But as of today, I do like where Auburn sits.”"
Lee goes on to talk about how important relationships are to Franklin, stressing his bond with Jeremy Garrett as a major factor in the defensive lineman’s decision along with the opportunity to get early play time.
Hopefully, by the end of the day today, 5-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin is officially an Auburn football commit.
