Playing in East Central Alabama prepared former Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix for his upcoming matchup under center for Oregon against Texas Tech from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on September 9. The Pinson product admitted as much on September 6 after his Ducks’ practice ahead of the non-conference clash.

“That’s a good question,” Nix said when asked what the hottest game he ever took part in was. “I’m not quite sure exactly temperature wise. I’ve played in Florida and Texas a few times. It gets hot down in south Alabama at Auburn. I’m not exactly sure the exact. We’ll be ready for it and we’ve been training hard for it.”

Playing in Florida and Texas happened for Nix’s matchup against the Gators in Gainesville during his college debut in 2019 and against Texas A&M at Kyle Field in College Station during his second-to-last Auburn football appearance.

Former Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix among several Ducks Joey McGuire believes is NFL-bound

Nix was given his due by Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire, who called the quarterback and several of his weapons future NFL-ers on September 4.

“You’re talking about an extremely talented team,” McGuire said of Oregon (h/t Ducks Wire). “We’re looking at the number of snaps that they’ve taken. They’re one of the few teams probably in the country that are a little bit older than us. They’ve got a great quarterback, an NFL quarterback in Bo Nix, and they’ve got to NFL running back, you know, in Bucky —#0 — Bucky Irving, and then they’ve got an NFL receiver. I know that they have other NFL players on offense but those three guys really stand out and are really good football players.”

This isn’t the first NFL projection Nix has gotten, and it won’t be the last. Nix can’t let the compliments get his guard down; something the QB could easily due given Texas Tech’s Week 1 loss to Wyoming.
