Week 2’s latest game on the television schedule will be Auburn vs Cal in the Pac-12 After Dark slot. After putting up a combined 117 points in Week 1, the Tigers and Golden Bears head toward what could be an even matchup.

AU will be contending with a late start time, while Cal could be contending with a fired-up Tigers team provoked by Cal RB Jaydn Otts. What supernatural forces will win out is the (insert your wager amount) question on September 9.

This will be the first time Auburn and Cal will be meeting on the gridiron. The return game will be the second game on the 2024 schedule at Jordan-Hare Stadium. California Memorial Stadium will play host to the first half of their back-to-back.

Auburn vs Cal prediction

The following was my prediction for the Auburn vs Cal game: a statement victory of the new coaching staff.

“Cal defends well against the run but should be vulnerable in the passing game if Thorne is able to air things out,” I wrote on September 7. “With Ashford being such a redzone threat, Thorne may be motivated to air it out to prove himself.

“If he strikes at least twice in that way, AU figures to put up a handful of touchdowns. Ott challenged the Tigers, but especially Ron Roberts’ defense, and this writer believes Auburn will respond with a cover.”

Prediction: Auburn -6.5
