Cal villain Jadyn Ott backed up his game-week trash talk with a first-half touchdown against Auburn football that had Dave Flemming evoking the name of one Marshawn Lynch, a former Golden Bear.

Ott made no friends when he knocked the Tigers’ recent record; claiming that the brand has not been matched by the program’s recent play.

“There’s a lot of focus on the name Auburn,” Ott prefaced on September 6 before saying, “But what I see on film is not really in comparison to what their name is. I just want to get that into my guys’ heads that a name doesn’t mean anything.  And at the end of the day, they’re still human, and we have just as much of a chance as they do to go in there and get the win. It will be very encouraging when we do get this win. But I feel like our focus is going to be, um, not letting it get to our head and getting too big-headed after we do get the dub.”

With there being a question of availability under center for Cal, Ott took the mantle in the first half against Auburn football, answering with 63 yards rushing on 14 carries and the touchdown along with a reception.

Justin Wilcox utilized two quarterbacks for the Golden Bears just as Hugh Freeze did for the Tigers, with Sam Jackson V and Ben Finley both getting at least five pass attempts.
