NFL legend Aaron Rodgers, a product of Cal, lost a bet to his New York Jets teammate, CJ Uzomah, an Auburn football alum, and had the don the Tigers’ signature orange and blue after AU’s 14-10 win over the Golden Bears on September 9.

The Tigers were carried by Ron Roberts’ defense, but Payton Thorne was able to find Rivaldo Fairweather in the fourth quarter for the go-ahead score to clinch the Week 2 non-conference matchup in Berkeley; a historic win for AU.

With the win, AU somehow didn’t move closer to a top 25 spot in the AP Poll. In fact, after garnering votes after Week 1, they didn’t garner a single vote.

Aaron Rodgers is not the only Golden Bear to eat crow after Auburn football beats Cal

Rodgers was not the only Golden Bear to eat crow after Auburn football knocked off Cal on September 9. Jadyn Ott, a current Cal running back, had to live with having dished out a freezing-cold take on September 6 ahead of the matchup.

“There’s a lot of focus on the name Auburn,” Ott prefaced before saying, “But what I see on film is not really in comparison to what their name is. I just want to get that into my guys’ heads that a name doesn’t mean anything.  And at the end of the day, they’re still human, and we have just as much of a chance as they do to go in there and get the win. It will be very encouraging when we do get this win. But I feel like our focus is going to be, um, not letting it get to our head and getting too big-headed after we do get the dub.”

Banter aside, Fly War Eagle wishes Ott luck in his recovery from an apparent injury during the AU-Cal game. And good luck to Rodgers playing quarterback for the Jets; it’s a spotlight that’s swallowed careers whole. At least that’s what Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow would tell you.
