Hugh Freeze’s Auburn football program was not predicted to be the team to land 4-star Colquitt County wideout Ny Carr, who visited the Plains in Week 5 for the Georgia matchup; with Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes instead having a crystal ball logged for Carr.

“Miami is the new leader in the recruitment of Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star wide receiver Ny Carr, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine,” On3’s Collin Ginnan prefaced before saying, “On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons logged an expert prediction in favor of the ‘Canes on Wednesday with a 60% confidence level. With that intel, Miami jumped out to a commanding lead in the RPM with an 83.4% chance of landing Carr’s commitment.”

CaneSport’s Izubee Charles is highly confident “The U” will close on Carr’s commitment by the start of the 2024 season.

“I really, really like where Miami stands with this one,” Charles prefaced before saying, “Miami was quick to send a coach up there Monday following his decommitment on Sunday … after speaking with his head coach up at Colquitt County he said the visit went extremely well, he said Carr backed off his commitment from Georgia because he wanted to see what else was out there … wanted to find a better fit for him on and off the field, and I think that could be Miami.”

Auburn football still a factor in Ny Carr’s recruitment until he arrives at fall camp in 2024

Until Carr sets foot on someone’s campus for fall camp in summer 2024 after signing his NLI, the state of Georgia’s No. 9 overall recruit and No. 11 WR nationally is a possibility for the Auburn football coaching staff.

That’s simply the state of modern recruitment — but that’s especially the case for Miami football, where Coach Prime poached Cormani McClain and Freeze poached Conner Lew during the 2022 offseason.
