Auburn analyst’s black-pilled take on Hugh Freeze’s performance
It almost seemed sacrilege at one point to condemn Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze for anything, with the “it’s his first season” caveat present amidst a recruiting flurry that seemingly undid a lot of the damage his predecessor put upon the program through severe under-recruiting. With the decommitment of Jalewis Solomon and the embarrassing 48-18 loss to LSU, though, criticisms of Freeze and Co. are starting up at an accelerated pace.
Auburn Daily’s Lance Dawe had a black-pilled take on the job Freeze’s coaching staff, which was considered one of his stock fallers after the Week 7 blowout in Death Valley, and downplayed the talent disparity between the two Tigers teams on October 14.
“How is that the offensive product put onto the field after an extra week of preparation against a horrible defense? How is it that bad? Auburn is now averaging less passing yards per game than their 2012 team,” Dawe prefaced before saying, “You know, the one that went 3-9? That should be a cause for concern. There should not be an expectation for the Tigers to win games against big time opponents. But to lose by 30 after the opponent was favored by 11, two weeks after nearly beating the No. 1 team in the country? This cannot be blamed solely on lack of talent. This is a coaching issue.”
Hugh Freeze lost the narrative quickly but can get it back just as quickly with an Auburn football win over Ole Miss
Fanbases in the SEC undergo roller coaster swings year in and year out as their teams triumph and tumble in rivalry games. It’s as inevitable as death and taxes.
This losing streak, one Freeze essentially predicted, has had fans bearish on the team after the Texas A&M game, bullish after the Georgia game, and disgusted following the Tiger Bowl in Baton Rouge this past weekend.
The pendulum swings significantly again should AU beat Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels on October 21 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
