Auburn football: JUCO safety on commitment watch
This weekend, the Auburn football team will play host to the Ole Miss Rebels in Jordan-Hare Stadium, but it will also be playing host to a long list of recruits from multiple classes who are making their way to the Plains for visits.
A large number of Auburn football commits will make an appearance, including Perry Thompson, Demarcus Riddick, J’Marion Burnette, and Joseph Phillips, among others. After securing two more commits in the class of 2025 over the past week, the Tigers will be looking to lock down a few more guys this weekend.
One recruit that is on commitment watch going into this weekend is junior college safety Laquan Robinson, who currently plays for Holmes Community College in Goodman, MS. Robinson and his family will be making their way to the Plains this weekend for an official visit.
The safety last visited campus when the Tigers took on the Dawgs at the end of September, and declared that Auburn football was in his top three. His family’s opinion means a lot,per Auburn Rivals:
"“Top three,” Robinson said when asked where Auburn stood with him. “That’s just because all of my family —my dad, really big Auburn fans. So it really means a lot bringing him up here to see that. “"
According to Robinson’s On3 Sports Recruiting Profile, the only other school he has visited is Ole Miss. However, he plans to be back on the Plains for the Iron Bowl at the end of the season. The safety noted that so far, the Tigers’ message to him has been simple: come home.
Bringing his family with him for this visit is a big deal, and it points to possibility that the JUCO prospect could make a commitment decision this weekend while on the Plains. Robinson would be the 17th recruit to join the Tigers’ recruiting class of 2024.
