Boise radio station expects disgraced ex-Auburn coach to return to college football
Boise metropolitan area-based radio station KIDO Talk Radio, specifically KIDO’s Kevin Miller, expects disgraced former Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin to return to college football at some point.
“We don’t know if Coach Harsin will be appearing at an Halloween parties between now and the big day, however, we applaud his efforts to embrace the spirit of the season,” Miller said of Harsin’s Joker Halloween costume before saying, “We expect the coach to return to college football and will continue to update you on this story as it develops.”
The Auburn family certainly knows a certain blue and orange-wearing program featuring a certain 10-time national champion-winning Tiger mascot Harsin won’t be returning to, despite paying him the salary of a full-time executive.
Hugh Freeze’s Auburn football tenure making Bryan Harsin look better
Gus Malzahn had Auburn football winning at least eight games in all but one of his eight seasons on the Plains, but Harsin’s arrival signaled two straight losing seasons; the latter, 2022, of which had to be resuscitated by Cadillac Williams in the final four games of it by going 2-2 after a 3-5 start.
Now that Hugh Freeze can’t buy a win in SEC play — going 0-4 in his first foray into conference play at the helm for Auburn — Harsin’s Tigers tenure doesn’t look as bad to those not in the know. Of course, those in the know understand that Harsin neglected to even pick up the phone and call local high school coaches. Freeze has covered the recruiting bases but isn’t focusing enough on the now. Harsin seemingly focused on neither.
Still, there will be small-time schools that will see AU as the problem and see a big name like Harsin as the answer to all of their problems. Or Boise State, currently 3-4, could do something drastic and bring Harsin back at the expense of Andy Avalos; who’s a year removed from a 10-4 showing at the helm of the Broncos.
Bet on the former.
