It happens every year, and this year it happened again, but Auburn football fans are still not happy about it. For the umpteenth time, the Iron Bowl kickoff time has been announced as 2:30 p.m. central time on CBS.
Many view Alabama as a beatable team for the Tigers this year, especially when you consider the environmental factors. The Tide have only lost one game this year, but they are light years away from the Alabama team that had to the take the Tigers to 4OT to win two years ago.
Now, Auburn football is getting hot and gaining momentum heading into the stretch and are expected to beat New Mexico State, meaning the Tigers would be rolling into the Iron Bowl on a 4-game winning streak with the home field advantage, which is most definitely a real thing when it comes to Jordan-Hare. Not to mention that this year is the 10th anniversary of the Kick Six.
The good news is that it will be dark by the end of the game, but fans are not satisfied with a 2:30 start time:
There’s no question that the best games in Jordan-Hare Stadium are night games, and that is what fans want for the biggest matchup of the year. It didn’t happen this year, but changes are coming in 2024, when the SEC moves to ESPN and ABC. While primetime on CBS is the 2:30 game, it’s the 6:00 p.m. game on ESPN, so the future is looking brighter (or darker?) for fans who are hoping for an Iron Bowl night game.
