Fans on the X platform are hoping that Mike Elko joining the SEC via his taking the head coaching job at Texas A&M means his former Duke quarterback, Riley Leonard, will also head to the “It Just Means More” conference by way of a homecoming with Auburn football.

“Well hello, Riley Leonard,” said one notable Auburn fan in response to the Elko-Texas A&M news; prompting several other fans to agree that the Fairhope legend should return to the Yellowhammer state on the Plains.

“Riley Leonard with the 65-yard deep pass to Cam Coleman for six,” imagined one fan enjoying quite the Auburn dream scenario.

“We will gladly bring him back home,” said another.

“He was coming either way,” claimed one confident fan.

When one user called the original poster an awful evaluator of quarterback talent, that same user pointed out that the current Tigers coaching staff is a fan of Leonard.

“You should be worrying about the eval from the coaches then, they like (Leonard),” said the confident fan.

Ideal Auburn football QB target tabbed as an option for Notre Dame

Slap the Sign’s Oliver Vandervoort believes Leonard could be a potential Notre Dame replacement for Sam Hartman under center following the first domino of such a scenario falling with Elko defecting for Texas A&M.

“There’s no telling just how Notre Dame football is going to handle the replacement for Sam Hartman outside of ‘someone from the transfer portal,'” Vandervoort prefaced before saying, “However, Riley Leonard is right at the top of quite a few fans’ wishlists.

“Quite a few things have to happen in order for the Duke quarterback to come to South Bend. The first of which is obviously that he needs to enter the transfer portal. The likelihood of Leonard doing that got a lot bigger on Sunday.”

Should Auburn take to the transfer portal to find a new signal-caller as expected this offseason, Leonard is surely a top-of-the-list name.
