Now-former Texas A&M and LSU quarterback Max Johnson hit the transfer portal on November 26 — and encouragingly, is open for the picking for Auburn football. The QB has had an impressive career over his time in Baton Rouge and College Station, proving himself to be an impact player at every stop with 5,853 yards 60.5 percent completion, and 47 touchdowns over his four-year career.

Auburn, coming off of a season where they predictably went 6-6, needs to see an upgrade at their QB position, and Johnson gives them just that.

With top recruits coming in at the receiver spots, Johnson can come in and make them shine. With Perry Thompson a lock to come in and Cameron Coleman potentially flipping from Texas A&M, 2024 could be special if Johson joins the team. Auburn football has a stellar defense and run game so bringing in the big playmaking lefty can be the cherry on top.

Ideal Auburn football QB target Max Johnson an efficient passer everywhere he went

His SEC experience at LSU as well as Texas A&M make him perfect for this spot. During his time with LSU, he threw 35 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. In the two seasons he played for them he had a total of 3,884 yards. At A&M, he had 1,969 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Johnson is tailor-made for AU since he is accustomed to playing big games at the highest level in the SEC. He should be at the top of the wish list with how he can help this team for next season.
