Auburn recruiting tampering accusation doubted by analyst
Mike Farrell of the Mike Farrell Sports brand has serious doubts about whether or not the tampering accusation levied at Oregon, Washington, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Auburn football programs regarding Cameron Ward has a lick of credibility.
“I’d like to see these schools comment (about the accusation) for two reasons…1) I think this is false, 2) it’s an accusation of serious tampering,” Farrell wrote.
The report originated from All Hogs’ Jacob Davis via former Washington quarterback and long-time sports analyst Brock Huard.
“Former Washington QB Brock Huard says Wazzu star QB Cam Ward has up to ten $1mil offers to transfer,” Davis prefaced before naming AU among several schools possibly guilty of doling out such an offer. “Schools that have supposedly contacted him are Oregon, Washington, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Auburn. If Ward decides to move on from Pullman, a school will be instant contenders.”
Huard referred to Ward’s potential transfer portal/NIL bidding war as “ludicrous” (h/t AthlonSports).
“Cam Ward has 10 seven-figure deals waiting for him,” said Huard. “He has 10 different deals from around the country that will pay him seven figures to come play quarterback. How ludicrous is college football right now?”
Cameron Ward would be winning addition for Auburn football
Ward would be the perfect Hugh Freeze system quarterback as an elite dual-threat and should be a transfer portal option under center for the Tigers during the upcoming transfer portal cycle set to open on December 4.
If it costs a million dollars to land him, well, On To Victory, do your thing.
Ward is the kind of player you open up the wallet for and raise money to pursue. With the AU quarterback room set to lose members, Ward would be the type of blockbuster arrival that’d change the trajectory of the program in one fell swoop.
