Ex-Auburn target may be thrust into ACC championship spotlight
As ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported, former Auburn football recruiting target Brock Glenn could be thrust into the ACC Championship spotlight for Florida State given the injuries to Jordan Travis and Tate Rodemaker, a game-day decision, ahead of him on the Seminoles’ quarterback depth chart.
“Quarterback Tate Rodemaker, who started the team’s final regular-season game — a 24-15 win over Florida — will be a game-day decision, according to the school,” Thamel wrote. “Rodemaker left the Florida game in the fourth quarter after taking a late hit to the head following a scramble. He returned to action two plays later to help cap a touchdown drive. Rodemaker has not been a full participant in practice this week, but an FSU spokesperson told ESPN the team continues to ‘go through the process’ with Rodemaker and will ‘see what that means for Saturday.'”
“If Rodemaker is unable to play, Florida State would go with freshman Brock Glenn, who has taken only a handful of snaps this season. Glenn played late against North Alabama to get game reps, going 2-for-3 for 35 yards and adding a rushing touchdown. Glenn also came in for Rodemaker after he got hit against Florida last week, throwing incomplete on his lone pass.”
Brock Glenn was a key recruiting loss for disgraced former Auburn football coach
Not landing Glenn, whose first name is literally Auburn due to his grandfather’s love of AU, was one of Bryan Harsin’s most notable recruiting failures during the Tigers’ nearly two-year run with the Boise native running the show.
As AL.com’s Nick Alvarez framed it in July 2022, Harsin and Glenn had mutual interest, but other schools did more work to land the ex-Lausanne Collegiate School star.
“The interest between Bryan Harsin’s staff and Glenn appeared mutual but other programs jumped in late in Glenn’s process and Auburn fell behind and eventually out of the picture,” Alvarez wrote.
Glenn is a symbol of failure for Harsin and 2022 Auburn football recruiting, aka the dark ages of the NIL era on the Plains, but he could turn himself into a symbol of victory for FSU in the 2023 ACC Championship game.
