The Auburn family once again waged a social media war of words with disgraced former Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin, whose cynical transfer portal remarks about spending big to land the best players — this in response to Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel entering the transfer portal — got Tiger fans hot and bothered.

“Just in time for Christmas ‘Portal Shopping’ has officially begun! May the biggest spenders enjoy the happiest holidays,” Harsin said on X.

Of course, this wasn’t going to be unaddressed by an Auburn fanbase who still feels the Tigers’ lack of success in 2023 was, in large part, due to Harsin.

Fans came in hot with clapbacks for the Boise native; who can be on the 2024 schedule if he ends up hired by New Mexico as is currently a rumored possibility.

“You probably wouldn’t be unemployed during the holidays if you had done any shopping yourself,” remarked one fed-up poster.

“Bryan Harsin trolling Auburn is unironically the most involved he has ever been with the Auburn culture,” cracked another.

“Too bad we got a lump of coal from the Coach’s Portal when we spent MILLIONS on you,” said one punny poster.

“I really can’t figure out how this guy didn’t pan out in a big boy league,” deadpanned a notable Auburn X account.

“I cannot believe Allen Greene gave this dude a job on purpose,” said another.

“And people said shame on Auburn for not being ‘aligned’ with this,” said Opelika-Auburn News editor Justin Lee.

Harsin will live in the hearts of Auburn fans forever; but more in the heartworm sense than with any fondness and/or wanting him to even be there in the first place. Every time he comments on the sport, Tiger fans will be there to dunk on and ratio him.

And if he’s going to comment on any aspect of recruiting? Well, the floodgates in front of their frustration will be burst open biblically.
