It’s day two of the open window of the NCAA transfer portal, and Auburn football —like many other programs— are searching for additional pieces to add to their rosters for the next season. With the early national signing period coming up near the end of December, many programs will have to prioritize bowl preparation with recruiting.

The Tigers had a busy day yesterday, with a number of departures reported in addition to the offers to players in the portal. Among those that have left Auburn football for the portal are Malcolm Johnson Jr., Enyce Sledge, and Jyaire Shorter.

The coaching staff extended several offers on the first day of the open portal window, many to offensive linemen and wide receivers. Last night, the coaches kept up the momentum, and sent out offers to Will Sheppard, Ethan Robinson, Will Lee III, and Fernando Carmona.

Sheppard is a wide receiver who formerly played at Vanderbilt. He spent four seasons as a Commodore, and racked up 152 receptions for 2,067 yards and 21 touchdowns. Sheppard saw game action as a true freshman, and was a starter by the time he was a sophomore.

Robinson, a graduate transfer from Bucknell University, is a cornerback with two years of eligibility left. He played three seasons as a Bison on both special teams and the defense, and played in every game as a true freshman, and was a starter in all games as a sophomore. He recorded 154 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles to date.

Lee, a cornerback, spent only one season at Kansas State before entering the transfer portal. He was a 4-star prospect out of high school, and recorded 42 total tackles, one forced fumble, and two interceptions last season.

Carmona is an offensive tackle who formerly played at San Jose State. He spent two seasons with the Spartans, and was named to both Second Team Phil Steele’s Preseason Mountain West Team and Third Team Preseason Athlon Sports All-Mountain West Offense in 2023.

Though there have been no additional offers announced today, there are several players to keep an eye on that may receive offers from Auburn football soon.
