In former head coach Hugh Freeze's last season on the Plains, there were many inexplicable losses for the Auburn football team. Tiger fans couldn't catch a win for anything, and dealt with multiple situations like the Oklahoma wide receiver's illegal positioning and Kirby Smart's "clapping" instead of calling a timeout.
And then there were the times where the playcalling or decision-making was just absolutely bonkers. Or, there's the play you can view below if you'd like to get angry all over again. At a certain point, fans had to admit defeat and were out of reasons to continue defending Freeze.
This infamous play that people hear me mention all the time in spaces was my breaking point with Hugh Freeze😂

However, we have entered a new era on the Plains with the hiring of former South Florida coach Alex Golesh. With his "be who you say you are" motto and a big group of players who followed him to Auburn from his former school, Golesh is working to build a foundation that will set the Tigers up for success for years to come.
While he has not yet had the opportunity to show off his new team on the field, Golesh has already starting his tenure off strong in the world of recruiting. As the summer draws to a close, Golesh has a top-10 overall 2027 recruiting class and a top-5 class in the Southeastern Conference.
Fans are eager to believe that Golesh will be the one to turn things around after the worst stretch of Auburn football since the 1940s, but high-level recruits are also buying what the new head coach is selling. In fact, 4-star running back commit Myson Johnson-Cook had a compelling response to the previously referenced tweet.
"It’s okay Alex Golesh and Joel Gordon will save you some whisky glasses," wrote the Illinois native on his personal X account.
Gordon serves as the Tigers' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and was previously at South Florida with Golesh. The pair brought in highly-touted quarterback Byrum Brown from South Florida, and are hoping that he could be the answer to the quarterback question Auburn football has been asking for several years.
Earlier this year, Gordon emphasized that Auburn's offensive identity would be running the football, a return to the Tigers' roots. With talented running backs, a capable quarterback and an offense that runs at a high tempo, the new coaching staff is fulling planning on transforming the Tigers' offense.
And according to RB commit Myson Johnson-Cook, Tiger fans are going to like what they see this fall.
