After Peyton Falzone decommitted from Auburn on Tuesday, one day before the Early Signing Period, it left the Tigers with no quarterback in this year's class.
On Wednesday, 3-star Rhys Brush filled that role. Committed to USF and Alex Golesh since February, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound quarterback decided to follow the head coach to the Plains.
“What makes Coach Golesh special is that he truly and deeply cares about his staff and players,” Brush told Rivals. “He brings energy and juice every day to whatever he is doing. At the end of the day, he is the ultimate players’ coach. He’s the guy you want to fight for and win for.
“Coach Golesh let me know the night he got up there that I was his guy and that he wanted me to come along with him. It meant a lot because it’s a crazy world out there, and it shows you how loyal he is.”
Rhys Brush looking forward to play on the big stages
He joins Ashton Daniels and Deuce Knight in what should be an electric quarterback room under Golesh. Out of Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla., Brush is excited about playing in the SEC and in some of the biggest stadiums in college football.
“I can’t even put into words how excited I am to be playing on the biggest stage,” he said. “I get to play for the coach who has been by my side and always believed in me throughout this whole recruiting process, too. I’m beyond excited to represent Coach Golesh and the staff. It has always been a dream of mine, and it just feels surreal. War Eagle!"
As of publication, Brush is one of five players to sign with the Tigers on Wednesday, including 4-star EDGE Jaquez Wilkes out of Wadley High School, who is ranked the No. 15 player at his position in the class.
