Since Head Coach Hugh Freeze arrived on the Plains, recruiting in-state prospects has been a top priority for the Auburn football program, and as the staff works to lock in their future classes, that remains true.
Earlier this week, the Tigers hosted 4-star edge Jabarrius Garror from Mobile, Alabama. Ranked as the No. 51 overall recruit in the class of 2027, Garror is ranked as the No. 6 edge in his recruiting class and the No. 1 prospect out of his home state.
The edge rusher committed to Alabama in July of last year, but he is continuing to check out other schools and has been keeping his recruitment open.
This weekend's visit is the first for Garror since a trip in January, and he has been working to get to know the Auburn football coaching staff better, including his would-be position coach, Outside Linebackers Coach Roc Bellantoni.
"They’re both great coaches," Garror said of Bellantoni and defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, per Auburn Rivals. "Coach Roc was just telling me how he sees me fitting in the defense. He wants me to come down more so I can spend more time with him. You know, see what I can be used in toward defense-wise."
Garror said he could see himself fitting in well with the Tigers and that he is eager to discuss his role more as the weekend goes on. When asked if there is a chance that he could flip to Auburn, Garror confirmed the potential.
"Most definitely," Garror said. "I'm sitting right here...and Auburn is a great spot to be. Them and Alabama were the first two I ever thought about before my process even got started, because I grew up watching both, so that's where I'm at."
The edge rusher will also visit Florida State, Florida, Miami and Alabama this summer.
