After a couple of weeks of bad news for the Auburn football team in terms of recruiting, good news has finally hit. 4-star offensive tackle Wilson Zierer announced his commitment to the Tigers on Thursday.
The brother of former Auburn football offensive tackle Killian Zierer, the Tigers' newest commit is ranked as the No. 27 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2026 and the No. 37 player out of the state of Georgia. Zierer ultimately chose Auburn football over Alabama and Florida State and had almost 30 offers.
Despite Zierer's legacy status, the Tigers and offensive line coach Jake Thornton had to put in a lot of work to keep the OT from choosing one of the other schools on his list. Auburn had a leg up due to sending Zierer his first offer from an SEC school.
"Man, I was happy. It's my first SEC offer and with my brother playing there, I've been there a couple times. I was pretty happy," Zierer told Auburn Undercover earlier this year. "Even though he's in Germany right now I was able to call him and tell him and he didn't even believe me at first. Because for him, all the offers started to come in in April. So it was kind of weird that it started for me this early. He was like, 'Oh you're lying blah blah blah.' He said you have to post it on Twitter then it's official and I was like, 'Okay.' And two minutes later, he was like, 'Damn.'"
Zierer becomes the 10th commit in Auburn football's recruiting class of 2026, which is ranked No. 75 overall. He is the third offensive lineman in the group.
