The Alabama Crimson Tide will have to replace starting quarterback Ty Simpson for next season, with the soon-to-be 23-year-old likely to be one of the top signal-callers selected in the 2026 NFL draft next April.
One potential Transfer Portal option this offseason could be Nebraska Cornhuskers QB Dylan Raiola, who CBS Sports' Chris Hummer reports may be eyeing an exit from Lincoln after his brother Dayon's decommitment.
While Raiola has affirmed his desire to remain a Husker, this is the player who decommitted from the Ohio State Buckeyes and then later the Georgia Bulldogs as well.
"Nebraska is again wondering about the future of its starting quarterback Dylan Raiola," Hummer wrote.
"The Huskers held on to Raiola last offseason after his camp had informal conversations with other programs about potentially entering the transfer portal. There is a sense in Lincoln that this offseason may be different as Nebraska is bracing for Raiola to explore leaving, sources tell CBS Sports. Raiola has not played since Nov. 1 after breaking his fibula. His younger brother, Dayton Raiola, decommitted from Nebraska's 2026 class last week -- sending the rumor mill into action.
"Dominic Raiola, father of Dylan and Dayton and a former All-American at Nebraska, declined to comment when reached about this story and Dylan's future."
Alabama has Keelon Russell on the rise, but that Bleacher Report's Adam Wells mentioned the Miami Hurricanes and Crimson Tide, two teams Hummer linked Raiola to after the 2024 season, without a caveat, shows he may need one more year on the bench. Austin Mack is clearly not seen as Simpson's successor.
Dylan Raiola could become the perfect foil on the Plains
If Raiola chose Alabama, which has much more success producing NFL quarterbacks in the modern era than Nebraska, he'd become a massive target for Auburn Tiger fans everywhere. Raiola, made famous for his Patrick Mahomes cosplaying, is easy to troll.
No Twitter fanbase is better built to give Raiola hell than the Auburn Family. Perhaps Kalen DeBoer, or his potential replacement should he bolt for the Penn State Nittany Lions job, could make that a reality in 2026.
