The last two weeks have certainly been a roller coaster ride for the Auburn football program. From defeating the No. 1 team on the road to turning around and getting walloped on their home field, the Tigers have been through a lot this month.
Things aren't about to get any easier, though, with the attention turning to next weekend's road matchup against the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels. After Saturday's disappointing results, head coach Alex Golesh explained what the focus will be for the team as they turn the page.
"The ability to now reset and respond is what the name of the game is," Golesh said in his postgame presser, going on to emphasize that the Tigers had an incredibly poor performance.
Since before the season even began, Golesh emphasized that consistency in game preparation was a major focus for the program, and that the ability to unite as a team and carry on through adversity was something the coaches were really hoping to accomplish in year one.
Linebacker Elijah Melendez echoed those thoughts when asked how to deal with going from the Georgia win to the LSU loss.
"You know, just staying true to yourself," Melendez said. "You can't get too high off the highs, too low off the lows, just stay neutral."
Melendez said that they always knew it would be a battle to win in the SEC every week, and it is important to just move on from the loss.
After such a major win last weekend, quarterback Byrum Brown was asked if this weekend's loss sets back the rebuilding process of the football program.
"It's a part of it, you know, there's ups, there's downs, and this was obviously a down," Brown said. "Last week was up. But this is going to help define who this 2026 Auburn football team is. How we respond this week into next week, and I'm looking forward to it."
Brown went on to say that it was important for him to be the same guy every single day, someone that his teammates can lean on, whether they are in the midst of the highs and lows. It's clear that the Tigers response to the adversity of this week can make or break the rest of the season.
Auburn football returns to action this weekend on the road for an 11:45 a.m. kickoff against Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels.
