Alex Golesh has done a solid job recruiting offensive linemen for the 2027 class so far. Now, the first-year Auburn head coach has a shot at landing another big fish.

Reed Ramsier, a 4-star interior offensive lineman from The First Academy in Orlando, Fla., announced on Thursday that he has narrowed his list to two schools: the Tigers and SEC rival Texas.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Ramsier was set to visit Clemson this weekend, but canceled the visit after cutting the schools to two. He’s set for an official visit to Auburn on June 5, with a trip to Austin to visit the Longhorns the following weekend.

Golesh, alongside offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick, has made a splash in the last few months, gaining the commitments of 4-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt, 3-star interior offensive lineman Jaylon Moore and 3-star offensive tackle Rance Brown. It has seemed to be a priority for Golesh and his staff to stockpile some high school recruits who can play on the offensive line in the near future.

Alex Golesh trying to fix Auburn's offensive line problems from the past

There’s no secret that one of the massive problems for the Tigers over the past several seasons has come not only at quarterback, but in finding quality play in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball. Lack of recruiting the position in the latter years of the Gus Malzahn era, plus the two seasons of basically not even attempting to recruit a single player by Bryan Harsin, was followed by Hugh Freeze signing some talented players, including Connor Lew, who left this offseason after three years on the Plains, but the Tigers’ entire offensive line from last season is now gone, leaving Golesh in a position where he has to fill it with all newcomers.

While that is a good stopgap approach, and the coach will certainly continue to look for talented offensive linemen each offseason, building a recruiting class full of talented guys up front will go a long way toward bringing success to Auburn’s offense.
