Auburn has the bye this weekend, but there's still a massive game in the state of Alabama that should grab Tiger fans' attention.

The Crimson Tide hosts the Dawgs at Bryant-Denny Stadium, weather permitting. Tropical Storm Isaias is headed to Alabama, but right now the game is going to be played. President Donald Trump plans on being in attendance.

Alex Golesh admitted that he'll have his eyes on the game as Georgia looms on the schedule for October 17 in Athens. Golesh is still searching for his first road win in the conference.

"Really closely," Golesh said when asked if he'd be watching UGA-Alabama. "I think like I mentioned earlier, it's really important.

"It gives you the ability to reset. It gives you the ability to study yourself, where normal game week, you're studying what you've done, but it lets you take a deeper dive. And then it gives you an extra week to prepare for one of the best teams in the country if not the best team in the country here in Georgia. It's big. It comes at a good time, and we certainly need it."

There's a long list of Auburn recruiting/flip targets who will be in attendance this Saturday. That list includes 3-star cornerback Preston Glasco (Loganville, GA), 5-star quarterback Elijah Haven (Baton Rouge, LA), 4-star quarterback Trent Seaborn (Alabaster, AL), 4-star EDGE Tyler Younger (Norcross, GA), 4-star quarterback Kingston Preyear (Alexander City, AL), 3-star running back Nigel Newkirk (Gainesville, GA), 3-star EDGE Jeremiah Beverly Regel (Tuscaloosa, AL), 3-star defensive lineman Kavarris Duncan (Alpine, AL), 3-star offensive lineman Stafford Willis (Arab, AL), and 3-star cornerback Braylen Gibbs (Knoxville, TN).

There will also be a first-hand look at two teams whose standard Tiger fans should be demanding.

UGA-Alabama is a snapshot of the kind of games Auburn should play

With two losses already, and an interior offensive line whose pecking order still has no clarity near the midway point of the regular season, it's hard to imagine 2026 having an Auburn game that the President would attend.

It's hard to imagine ESPN College GameDay choosing the Tigers as a host this season.

It's hard to imagine any significant stakes for the rest of the season.

Even escaping October with a win feels like a very difficult ask. Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss -- two of the three games on the road -- are a murderer's row.

While watching Auburn's two biggest rivals do battle in the game of the week, Tiger fans should remember that this shouldn't feel unattainable.

It only does because of five years of futility, four of which came under athletic director John Cohen.

Let's do what needs to be done, AU, before another season is lost. Auburn fans deserve more than spending the bye week dreaming about where their rivals currently stand in college football.
