Auburn’s 2027 recruiting class just received a massive boost as 4-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt announced his commitment to the Tigers on Monday.

The fifth-ranked offensive tackle in his class, von Brandt selected Alex Golesh and Auburn over other powerhouses like Florida, Notre Dame and Penn State. One of the selling points for the Tigers? Auburn’s campus and facilities.

“First, the coaches, great coaches, great individuals,” he said about Auburn. “Then, second, the facilities. It’s really pro-level. Everything can help me get to the next level. And the campus, I didn’t expect it to be as beautiful as it is.”

Alex Golesh wins massive recruiting battle

The Appoquinimink HS (Middletown, Del.) product has built a good relationship with offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick and assistants Chris Kapilovic and Parker Ball.

“Yeah, they’re great guys,” he said. “The room is really well put together. Different types of personalities, different types of guys that you want to talk to, especially with the addition of Coach Kap. Just him being from Alabama.”

It is another major win for Golesh and his staff. One of the questions when he was hired was his ability to land top talent while competing against other top programs in the nation. Landing 4-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook over national runner-up Miami was a great star, and the addition of 4-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore was great, but being able to get a commit from one of the top offensive tackles in the country from outside of Auburn’s usual recruiting area is a great sign.

While he is committed, von Brandt still has visits scheduled this summer to Notre Dame, Penn State and Florida, along with a trip to Auburn.

His commitment moves Auburn’s 2027 class all the way up to No. 26 in the country, with eight recruits currently committed to the Tigers.
