Auburn had its chances at upsetting No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday in College Station, but ineptness on offense wasn't enough to take advantage of a solid defensive effort as the Tigers dropped to the Aggies, 16-10, for their second straight loss.

The coaches who vote in the US LBM Coaches Poll took notice of the Tigers' defeat, dropping Hugh Freeze's squad even further down in the other receiving votes category, with just 12 votes coming in for Auburn.

The Tigers entered the poll for the first time since 2021 after a 3-0 start to the season, appearing at No. 25 in the September 14th poll. Now, with back-to-back losses, Auburn will have to prove itself against SEC competition to get back in the top 25.

Texas A&M was able to shut down Jackson Arnold and Auburn's offense on Saturday, holding the Tigers to 177 total yards, while sacking the quarterback five times. Freeze and his staff all but gave up on the rushing attack, as Jeremiah Cobb and Damari Alston combined for a mere eight carries.

The Tigers might have gone without a touchdown had it not been for an interception by Xavier Atkins. The linebacker returned it all the way to A&M's 2-yard line before Arnold rushed it in for the touchdown.

Auburn has a bye week this coming Saturday before returning home to battle No. 10 Georgia in The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry.
