For the seventh week in a row, the Auburn basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll. This week's ranking extends the program record for weeks spent at the top of the poll. The previous record was three weeks straight, achieved by the 2021-22 Auburn team.
This week, the Tigers are the unanimous No. 1 again after a stray vote was cast for the Florida Gators last week, and Auburn remains at No. 1 in the coaches poll, too. In SEC history, Auburn basketball is the only team besides Kentucky to have maintained a No. 1 streak for this long.
While Auburn remained at the top for another week, Duke's 110-67 win over Illinois was enough to propel the Blue Devils back to the No. 2 spot. Florida was demoted to No. 3 after a 79-65 win at LSU. Houston moved up one spot to No. 4 after a win over Iowa State, and Tennessee beat Texas A&M on the road to move back into the top five.
Alabama lost a midweek game to Missouri and then beat Kentucky in Tuscaloosa this weekend, but dropped two spots to No. 6 ahead of the final two weeks in the regular season. Eight SEC teams are ranked in this week's Top 25, and three of Auburn basketball's four final opponents are ranked. The unranked team, Ole Miss, fell out of the poll just this week after losing to Vanderbilt.
Here is a look at the Tigers' remaining schedule before the SEC Tournament next month:
Wednesday, February 26: Ole Miss
Saturday, March 1: at No. 17 Kentucky
Tuesday, March 4: at No. 12 Texas A&M
Saturday, March 8: No. 6 Alabama
It's a tough two weeks for head coach Bruce Pearl and his squad, but they will spend it trying to earn an SEC regular-season title and lock down the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament.
