One of the players that Auburn football fans were most excited to see in action during the 2024 season was wide receiver Cam Coleman.

Coleman's recruitment was highly publicized, and he almost ended up going to Texas A&M instead of Auburn, but switched his commitment after the Aggies fired Jimbo Fisher.

The wide receiver had a successful freshman campaign at Auburn, totaling 37 catches, 598 yards and eight touchdowns, even after dealing with a minor shoulder injury early in the season. Many have suggested that if there had been a more talented quarterback on the Plains that Coleman would have much more hype heading into his second year of college ball, but AL.com's Jerry Humphrey III believes Coleman can already be counted as one of the best returning receivers in the SEC.

"Looking at the returning players in the SEC already, it would be fair to rank Coleman in the top five with talents like Ryan Williams, Aaron Anderson, Cayden Lee and Tre Wilson," wrote AL.com's Jerry Humphrey III. "After healing from his early-season shoulder injury, Coleman had 22 catches for 306 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in Auburn’s final three games. Both Coleman and Williams finished with the same number of touchdowns. Producing at that level as a freshman, Coleman will be in a much better spot in 2025 with an entire new quarterback room."

Auburn football will be relying on former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold to run the offense this season, and the Tigers added several new receivers from the transfer portal to work alongside the returning Freeze Four, including Coleman.

While Alabama's Ryan Williams may have gotten a lot of attention in 2024, Coleman is coming for the crown in 2025.
