Following an embarrassing 10-3 loss to Kentucky on Saturday night in Jordan-Hare, Auburn has fired Hugh Freeze as its head football coach.
Freeze finished 15-19 during his tenure, including 6-16 in SEC play.
The news took over Twitter/X, as some fans wanted to celebrate the firing, while others were a bit befuddled.
Auburn firing Hugh Freeze means it'll pay an 8-figure buyout to a coach for the 3rd time in 5 years, which is just not something that non-college football fans could/should ever understand.

Oh, Auburn...
I wonder if Hugh Freeze has thought about the family that saved all freakin' year long to watch his team lose 10-3 to Kentucky last night.

I wish Hugh Freeze had fared better at Auburn.

His buyout is $15.4 million -- or 75% of the remaining value of his six-year contract paid in equal monthly installments through 2029.
He will be paid regardless of his employment status.
Hugh Freeze finishes with the second-most losses (19) for any Auburn coach who spent three seasons with the program. Only Earl Brown (22) had more.
