Auburn University's athletic department/football program is not taking the domestic violence allegations against Tigers receiver Malcolm Simmons lightly -- at least according to The War Rapport's Mike Gittens.
Gittens shared his intel on Saturday as the online debate on AU's handling of the matter hit the internet.
"Spoke with university officials today on the Malcolm Simmons arrest," Gittens wrote.
"An official said, 'Auburn is awaiting all the facts before making any determination on Malcolm Simmons’ status with the program.'
"They went on to say that they’re confident they do not yet have what they need to make a judgement, but once those facts are clear, decisions will be made swiftly.
"At this time, there aren’t any official football activities going on at the moment, but any delay in the suspension announcement should not be taken as the university taking these allegations lightly."
Auburn University Journalism professor emeritus John Carvalho gained traction with a tweet condemning his alma mater for the optics of the situation.
"For Auburn to not announce a decision on even suspending Malcolm Simmons, and leaving the alleged victim to increased pressure and the knowledge that her assailant faced no consequences from Auburn, could turn out to be a terrible, insensitive look," Carvalho tweeted.

Simmons' future with the program is a massive question mark that cannot be speculated on much until more facts are gathered.
The worst of the worst SEC fans are likely to use this against Auburn in unrelated arguments during the coming months on social media. That is the only guarantee in this whole situation.
