Saturday, 3-star CB Dante Core flipped his commitment from Auburn to Ole Miss. Thursday, Auburn football’s head coach Hugh Freeze picked right up where Core left off -- flipping 4-star CB Shamar Arnoux from USC.

The Tigers weren’t exactly hurting for recruits despite the loss of Core; after all, the Tigers proudly represent the sixth-best recruiting class in the country, an admirable feat for Coach Freeze since the Tigers have had an abysmal season so far.

Freeze still somehow manages to keep finding recruits, though.

Hugh Freeze nabbed Auburn football a recruiting upgrade on paper

Core flipped to Ole Miss following the conclusion of the Rebels' matchup against Georgia in which Jaxson Dart and company did as they pleased to the Dawgs, handing them their first loss to a team not named Alabama in over two years.

Losing Core wasn’t a massive surprise for Tiger fans; after all, the Rebels flipped five-star receiver Caleb Cunningham just a few days after. Fear for the Tigers comes into play when the name Deuce Knight is mentioned, as he could very much be the Rebels' next target.

All this aside, though, Auburn quickly picked up the pieces of Core’s flip and put together something, well, better: Arnoux is a 4-star, No. 35-ranked overall CB, compared to Core’s No. 57 national ranking.

Standing at six-foot-two, 175 pounds, the Georgia native dwarfs Core’s five-foot-11, 165-pound build.  He’ll prove to be a valuable asset to the 2025 spot, bolstering a spot that’s already very strong at Auburn, led by Keionte Scott and Kayin Lee.

The Trojans certainly thought they had the handle on him but one can never underestimate the power of Coach Freeze’s seemingly impossible recruiting efforts.
