After less than 48 hours as the head coach of Auburn football, Alex Golesh has already locked down a commit for the Tigers. Former South Florida tight end commit Damarcus "DJ" Broughton Jr. has officially flipped to Auburn after reopening his commitment following Golesh's move to the Plains.
From Semmes, Alabama, Broughton is ranked as the No. 211 wide receiver in the class of 2026 and the No. 57 recruit out of his home state. Although ranked as a receiver, the 3-star will play tight end on the Plains. He originally committed to Golesh and the Bulls on June 8.
Auburn Undercover reports that Broughton caught 32 passes for 497 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games as a senior at Mary G. Montgomery.
Signing Day Chaos
It was extremely important for Athletic Director John Cohen to have a head coach in place for the Tigers as soon as possible after the Iron Bowl, primarily because early signing day is this Wednesday, December 3.
Although Hugh Freeze and his staff managed to bring in two top 10 classes, the recruiting class of 2026 has been sputtering for some time. The Tigers have lost two commits from the 2026 class: 5-star safety Bralan Womack, who flipped to Mississippi State, and 4-star QB Payton Falzone.
Golesh has already brought many of his former USF staffers with him to the Plains, and there is a high probability that more players from USF will make their way to Auburn through the transfer portal in January
