The Auburn football program got good recruiting news earlier this week. 4-star safety Jaylen Scott announced he is flipping his commitment from Florida State to the Tigers.

From Mobile, Alabama, Scott is ranked as the No. 171 overall recruit and the No. 15 safety in the recruiting class of 2027. He is the No. 6 recruit out of Alabama, and his in-state status made him a big priority for Head Coach Hugh Freeze and his staff. As soon as he got the job, Auburn safeties coach TJ Rushing began pushing hard for Scott, who committed to Florida State in January.

After spending a weekend on the Plains and getting closer to Rushing, Scott knew he would be an Auburn Tiger.

"It's just the coaches, the environment and the culture," Scott told Auburn Undercover. "It's everything. I love it from top to bottom. Coach Rushing was huge. He's been with me through the whole thing from start to finish."

But the Auburn coaching staff weren't the only people rooting for Scott to end up as a Tiger. His parents are big Auburn fans, and he grew up with Auburn as one of his favorite teams.

"Auburn was my parents' favorite school, it was like top three for me," Scott said. "It was very special. I remember dreaming about this when I was a kid. We used to watch the games, watch the Iron Bowls in front of the TV every time it came on. This is a blessing. I'm very excited. I'm the first to be committed in the class, so that brings a lot."

According to Scott's 247 Sports recruiting profile, he recorded 107 tackles, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions, and one touchdown on an interception. He is the Tigers' first commit in the recruiting class of 2027.
